The Rock Biography & Pictures

Dwayne Johnson[1] (born May 2, 1972)[2] is an American actor, philanthropist, collegiate national champion, former world champion professional wrestler and author.

Johnson attended and played football for the University of Miami and helped his team win the National Championship in 1991. He graduated in 1995 with a degree in Criminology.

Following in the footsteps of his Hall of Fame father, Rocky Johnson and grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia, Johnson made his professional wrestling debut in 1996 for the WWF (now WWE). As The Rock, he achieved iconic status by becoming seven time world champion and one of the greatest global drawing attractions sports entertainment has ever seen.

In 2000, Johnson made his literary debut by publishing his autobiography, "The Rock Says". It debut #1 on the New York Times Best Sellers list and remained on the list for weeks.

Johnson made his movie acting debut as The Scorpion King, in The Mummy Returns in 2001. This lead to his first leading role, entitled, The Scorpion King. For this film, he entered the Guiness Book of World Records for the highest salary paid to an actor in his first leading role, earning $5.5 million. He has since appeared in movies such as The Rundown, Walking Tall, Be Cool, Southland Tales, Doom, Gridiron Gang, The Game Plan, Get Smart, Race to Witch Mountain, Tooth Fairy and soon to be released The Other Guys and Faster.
