Garlic and Onions Can Prevent Blood Clots: Fight Clots the Natural Way

If You May Be Prone to Blood Clots, Eating More Garlic and Onions Can Go a Long Way to Preventing Them

One thing people who may be prone to blood clots should do is immediately add more garlic and onions to their diet. Garlic is a natural blood thinner and onions can break up blood clots that have already formed. In fact, for centuries the French have added onions to their horses diet to break up blood clots in the legs. Indians too eat massive amounts of garlic and onions, and have some of the lowest incidences of blood clots in the world. So, if you think a blood clot may be in your future, do something to prevent it now. Add more garlic and onions to your diet, and here's how.



Onion Potato Salad - The anti-blood clotting properties are reduced when onions are cooked so it's best to eat them raw or close to raw if possible. One of the most delicious ways to eat onions is in an onion potato salad.

Boil the potatoes like you normally would for potato salad, but keep the skins on them as that's where much of the nutrition is. When cooked and cooled, cut potatoes into cubes and put in a bowl. Chop up a sweet onion and add to the potatoes. Add a chopped apple, chopped celery and green or black olives. In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, mustard, and some apple cider vinegar together, and spoon over the potatoes and onions. Mix everything together, and refrigerate for an hour. Eat.


Garlic Roast Potatoes - Potatoes they're a wonderful food to eat with garlic. Wash six small potatoes. Turn the oven on to 400 degrees fahrenheit. Cut the potatoes into slices and peel and chop three cloves of garlic. Place the potatoes into a baking pan, put the chopped garlic on top and drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil over them. Put in the oven and cook for 30-40 minutes.


Chop Garlic and Eat - A quick way to get the benefits of garlic when it comes to preventing blood clots is simply to peel a clove of garlic, chop it up and swallow it like you would pills. While it tastes a bit strong, if you swallow quickly and follow it with lots of water, it's an easy way to get your garlic.


Onions on Burgers - Don't forget, a couple of slices of raw onion on a burger livens up the burger and will also help you prevent blood clots.


French Onion Soup - Cut three onions into slices and fry them in butter. Add a tablespoon of flour, and mix until not clumpy. Add two cups of water, a cup of white wine, a cup of beef broth and salt and pepper seasonings, bring to a boil then simmer for 15 minutes. Once cooked, pour into four bowls, add chopped French bread and grated Swiss cheese and serve.


Roasted Garlic on French Bread - A quick garlic recipe that's absolutely delicious is roasted garlic on French bread. Peel a bulb of garlic and place into a small baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil and roast in the oven for 30-45 minutes. Take out and mash the garlic. Butter two large slices of French bread, add a liberal amount of garlic on top of the butter and sprinkle with a little bit of Italian spices. Yummy, and a scrumptious way to prevent blood clots.
